How much does it cost for one person to go on a cruise?

Cruise prices vary depending on itinerary, number of nights, cabin type and cruise line. Cruise companies show this in their financial reports as the amount they earned from spending on board. While this may be the most expensive cruise option if you look at the upfront costs, the all-inclusive nature of luxury lines may mean that cruise costs may not be that far removed from premium options. The typical cost of a cruise during peak season is higher than if you can get away during off-peak hours.

If you’re a big souvenir buyer, consider adding extra money to your cruise budget. It’s usually cheaper to buy a drinks package before you start your cruise than to wait until you’re on board. Mainstream cruise lines are known for their excessive offerings with cool features such as climbing walls, ice rinks, and water slides. You can choose to pay for them in advance when you buy your cruise, or have them charged to your in-flight spending account and pay the balance at the end of your trip.

When it comes to cruise ships, it’s helpful to understand that the cabin you choose will determine whether you get certain premium services or access to specific areas within the ship. Cruise lines have reported significantly higher spending on board than before the break (~ 10% more). Remember that your cruise price doesn’t include anything you eat or drink at the port that you have to pay out of pocket. There are many factors that influence the price of the base fare, including booking, cruise length, ship, cabin category, and destination.
